His first concert took place at the Black Student Association at the University of Toronto in April 2011. In 2011 he met with Lebanese-Canadian entrepreneur, “Sal” Slaiby with whom he founded record level XO Records. His parents Makkonen and Samra Tesfaye Ethiopian immigrants & he is the only child. He was born on 16th February 1990 in Toronto, the capital city of Ontario, Canada.
